Celtaidd recently performed a delightful evening concert for the National Welsh American Foundation in Brecon, featuring the works of Welsh and American composers. Leading Welsh composer John Metcalf, who is celebrating his 60th year this year, commented on the "confident and authoritive" performance of his 'Suite from a Chair in Love'. Two premieres 'Sleep Window' and 'Nymphs' by the highly talented up-and-coming Welsh composers James Jones and Kelly Mordecai were hugely successful, thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.
'An enchantingly happy evening - Celtaidd took the Royal Society of Medicine by storm!'
Celtaidd performed an evening recital at the Royal Society of Medicine on Thursday 20th July dedicated to Prof. the Baroness Ilora Finlay's Presidency of the Royal Society of Medicine. A highly entertaining programme featured a handful of the most successful and popular works ever written for wind quintet including Mozart, Farkas, Ligeti, Haydn, Arnold, Ibert, Pierne and Gershwin. All who attended, from the House of Lords and Royal Society of Medicine, thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
'Thank you all for a wonderful concert. It was a magical evening - you all played magnificently.'
Prof. the Baroness Finlay of Llandaff
'I would not have believed five young people could make such a magical sound. Everybody was enchanted.'
Dame Jane Campbell
